Alice: Madness Returns

One of the most famous children’s books of all time is Lewis Carroll’s Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Its enormous success has inspired many different kinds of adaptations, from parodies to movies and games.
A brand new retelling of Alice’s tale has just arrived in the stores around the world: Alice: Madness Returns.

This video game, developed by Electronic Arts, is the sequel to American McGee’s Alice, which shows the protagonist older, more cynical and macabre.

The first video game, that was released in 2000, happens some time after the Through the Looking-Glass adventure and it starts when Alice’s house is burned down by a fire, and she is the only survivor of the incident. She gets mad and is taken to an asylum, where Dr. Heironymous Wilson observes and treats her.
She “started to follow the White Rabbit” and then goes back to Wonderland that is actually her subconscious mind, and discovers that her madness has completed ruined it. So... as you may think, she has to install the peace again to recover her sanity.

As you can note in the trailers below, the game contains a lot of symbolism, what includes alchemical symbols, cards, Baphomet references, white rabbits, dolls and many more.
In spite of this, the game seems to be very creative. Watch the videos in full screen mode. It’s scarier.

I'm so sorry for the people who bought it thinking it was a family game....

See? She knows how to use the Vorpal Sword.
